Microsoft wants to streamline multimedia playback on Windows 8

The changes will bring Windows 8 will be only at the interface. Those from Microsoft tell us that their engineers have worked to optimize playback of multimedia content in Windows 8. They wanted to maximize system performance, providing a series of simplified platform for developers and to consider as many possible scenarios for playing multimedia content.
In a rather long, that I find the source, Microsoft describes at length the improvements brought to this chapter Windows 8. Among others, we learn that we tried when making optimization of audio playback. Using a larger audio buffer and thus a larger amount of data processed at some point, the processor may stay idle longer. Differences are not great, but if we think of mobile devices will run Windows 8, every ounce of energy matters.

Dedicated hardware video decoding is another priority for Windows 8. Microsoft says that a certificate for the new PC operating system, video decoding processor can load two to three times less than in Windows 7. We do not know how the tests were carried out in the picture below, but this scenario is possible and currently the codec and video card right.
Media Foundation platform in Windows 8 will support streaming with adaptive bitrate. We all know what a clip that loads very hard because we choose to start a good quality image. Starting time of playback and search during playback can be reduced using a low bitrate for a short period. This technology will be implemented in particular in specific applications interface Metro. More details about multimedia platform implemented in Windows 8 found in the source link.
