American Youth Football

About American Youth Football:

American Youth Football is a non-intrusive organization, meaning that each local organization may decide for itself what regulations and rules will work for them. The American Youth Football League believes “it's for the kids”. Local teams set their own regulations as long as they operate within the governing principles of the American Youth Football League. American Youth Football offers regional and national tournaments for those organizations that which to participate.

Governing Principles:

  1. Safety
  2. Sportsmanship
  3. Full Participation (everyone plays)

 

National Division:

The National division is divided into classifications by age and weight as follows:
  • Jr. Pee Wee, 10 and under, 119 lbs
  • Pee Wee 11 and under 134 lbs
  • Jr. Midget 12 and under 150 lbs
  • Midget 14 and under 175 lbs max
  • Sr. Midget 14 and under 175 lbs max

All-American Open Weight Division:

The All-American Open Weight Division is divided into classifications by grade and age as follows:
  • 3rd Grade, 9 & Under
  • 4th Grade, 10 & Under
  • 5th Grade, 11 & Under
  • 6th Grade, 12 & Under
  • 7th Grade, 13 & Under

Join American Youth Football:

American Youth Football teams are often part of other organizations such as Boys and Girls Clubs of America, Police Athletic Leagues, Community Centers, Junior High Schools, Parks and Recreation and more, so these are good places to start looking. Or you can fill out the League Locator form on the American Youth Football Web site and they will let you know where your local league is.
