Gangster Babloo Srivastava, who's currently lodged in Lucknow Jail, is believed to be planning his biopic.
Interestingly, he also has a wishlist of actors whom he'd like to
portray his life on screen. Ajay Devgn, who played characters based on
Dawood Ibrahim in Company and Haji Mastan in Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai, is the underworld don's first choice to play himself in the biopic. If not him, Emraan Hashmi and Abhishek Bachchan are the others on the gangster's wish list. Besides, he has asked Vinay Sharma, writer of the forthcoming Zilla Ghaziabad, to pen the script.
Interestingly, this is not the first time Srivastava is planning to get a biopic on him made. Some time in May 2008, he had reportedly signed producer-director S Rauf Jeelani to make the movie, based on his autobiography, Adhura Khwaab.
Stating that the initial plan didn't materialise (for reasons best known to Babloo), Vinay says that he was called to meet the gangster earlier this year. "Maybe he had heard about me writing Zilla Ghaziabad, which is based on gang wars in Ghaziabad in the 1990s... and that's why he called me," said the script writer who met the gangster in Lucknow during the hearing of one of his cases earlier this year.
He adds, "Then, I met him in May in Delhi, where hearings of a couple of his cases were on in Teez Hazaari Court and Patiala House Court. But more than Babloo, I'm in touch with Ranjeet Bahadur from Varanasi, who has helped him with the autobiography." We're told that Bahadur is the elected Chairman of Varanasi, like the Mayor is in Mumbai.
Probable cast
About the cast, Vinay says, "During one of the discussions, Babloo said that he felt Ajay would be the best actor to play him in the movie. If he's unavailable, then we can consider Emraan and Abhishek." That's not all, Bipasha Basu is also the first choice to play the gangster's air hostess girlfriend Archana. Besides, there's also a role for a younger actress to play his college girlfriend who was found dead in Nepal.
When asked if he's more than just the writer of the movie, Vinay said, "A corporate production house has evinced interest in backing this movie." When told about the buzz that E Nivas and Haroon Mirza are being considered to helm Srivastava's biopic, the writer maintained, "It's too early to say who'll be directing as talks are on with a couple of interested directors."
